Privacy policy
Effective 23 October 2026
AUX EYE turns your iPhone into a live camera for your own computer. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: nothing leaves your phone except the streams you send to receivers you choose, and the app collects nothing. The website's beta waitlist keeps only the email addresses people give it (see below).
AUX EYE is made by Benjamin Lappalainen ("we").
What we collect
Nothing, through the app. AUX EYE has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no servers of ours. We never receive your video, audio, depth, face data, settings or usage.
What the app uses, and where it goes
- Camera and microphone. The app captures video and audio only while it's open, to show a preview and to stream. The stream goes only to the address you enter (SRT), to receivers on your local network that you connect (NDI), or to the streaming services or RTMP servers you enter, such as Twitch or YouTube. What a streaming service does with a stream it receives is covered by that service's own privacy policy. It isn't recorded or stored by the app.
- Local network. The app uses your local network to send streams and, for NDI, to be found by receivers on the same network.
- Depth and face data (Pro). Depth mode uses the LiDAR scanner or the TrueDepth (Face ID) camera, through Apple's ARKit and AVFoundation:
- What's used: depth maps of the scene in front of the camera, and, with the front camera in Tracked mode, ARKit's face tracking, which the app uses only to run the camera and track the phone's position. The app doesn't read, keep or send face geometry, facial expressions or any face measurements.
- How it's used: depth is turned into a greyscale image and sent, with the camera's position and lens data, to the receivers you choose, so your own software can build a 3D view of the scene.
- Sharing: depth images go only to your chosen receivers. Nothing is shared with us or any third party.
- Storage and retention: depth and face data are processed in memory, frame by frame, and are not stored on the phone or anywhere else.
- Not used for: identifying anyone, Face ID authentication, advertising, or analytics.
- Person matte (Pro). Apple's Vision and ARKit find the people in the picture on the device. The resulting black-and-white matte is sent only to your chosen receivers and isn't stored.
- Stats logs. While streaming, the app writes a log of network and device statistics (bitrate, packet loss, temperature state, battery) to the app's own folder on your phone, keeping the last 20. They contain no images, audio or personal details. They never leave the phone unless you export them yourself.
- Settings. Your settings, such as receiver addresses, are saved on the phone only.
This website
auxeye.app has no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If you join the beta waitlist, we keep your email address and the date you signed up, only to email you when the public beta opens. It's stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the site, and may pass through an email delivery service to send that one email; it isn't shared with anyone else or used for anything else. To have it deleted, email us at the address below.
Purchases
Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment and gives the app only a confirmation that Pro is unlocked. We don't see your payment details or Apple Account.
Children
AUX EYE isn't directed at children, and the app collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
